Walking along the coast of Wales, through Bologna or in Japan … everywhere I come across the most vibrant and layered earth colors. Affected by time in soft nuances and with traces of all kinds of life and activity over the years. This weathered beauty always touches a chord with me and inspires me in my work. Earth and baked earth … it’s so close together.
Walking along the Welsh coast
In love with the colors of the walls in Bologna!
In Imari, a small town near Arita (known for her porcelain work) on the Japanese island of Kyushu, I came across this beautiful Noborigama kiln. Apart from the interesting technical firing process of these climbing multi-chamber kilns, I found the colors, textures and weathering of all kilns breathtakingly beautiful!
